Veterans Benefits American Legion Dept of Michigan
Veterans and their family members have additional access to help with veterans benefits through the American Legion Department of Michigan. A Department of Michigan Veteran Service Officer will be available to answer questions about Veteran Administration Benefits.
All Veterans who are serving in the military, Veterans who have served in the military, and all family members of Veterans are encouraged to attend if they have q
uestions. The Service Officer can help you begin the claims process if one is needed. Please bring your DD-214 and, if possible, any medical evidence,
both military and civilian documents. If you don't have your DD-214, one can be ordered for you.
There is no charge for this service. The American Legion Department of Michigan has been providing Veteran Services for Michigan for 80 years. They have the resources to provide representation in the Detroit Regional Offices, as well as Washington D.C. if the process goes that far.
You can meet with your Veteran Service Officer, CSM (R) Joseph Di Giovanni, at the Clinton County Courthouse, Garden Level A, St. Johns, MI every Wednesday from 12 pm - 5 pm. No appointment is necessary.
