Project Update 6/8/2018

Next week, the Clinton County Road Commission will fill a thin strip of gravel beside the road shoulders; they will also check driveway entries that may need added gravel for a smoother transition. A portion of the paving on Deloof will be milled and re-paved to correct a surface water drainage problem, schedule to be determined. Striping will probably be done in early July.

The Clinton County Road Commission is scheduled to re-pave Park Lake Road from Webster to State Roads beginning May 14, 2018 (weather dependent). This project should take about two weeks to complete (weather dependent) and the road will be open to traffic during construction (maybe slowed, but will be open).

The project will narrow the driving lanes to ten feet as a means of “traffic calming.” Presently, driving lanes are 11 – 12 feet. The shoulders will also be paved three feet wide on both sides of Park Lake Road to be more conducive to pedestrians.

In addition to the Park Lake Road project, the following side streets will also be re-paved: Deloof Street, Culver Drive, Whittemore Street, Short Street, and Ocha Drive. The parking lot at Park Lake Beach will also be paved.

Paving will be a mill and overlay – which will remove top 2 to 3.5 inches of asphalt and repave with equal thickness. Mill and overlay allows the paving to meet driveways without changing elevation.

Mailboxes may need to be removed during paving but will be put back afterward.

Some minor ditch and tile work is anticipated next to Park Lake Road.

There will be no tree removal.

The Road Commission and the Township have met with Friends of Park Lake and also hosted a neighborhood information meeting in April. Please watch the Township’s Facebook and website for more updates regarding this project.
